Welcome to the CHS AP Lit Website!
Summer Prep Information below.
This site has all of the assignments, resources, and links needed to succeed in the class. The Exam is May 4, 2022.
Some colleges allow the AP LIT EXAM to replace 1-2 classes (3-8 units). Do some research and plan on taking the exam in May to save time and money!
1st Semester (tentative schedule):

- AP Literature Skills to be mastered this year:
- Explain the function of character (16–20% of multiple-choice section)
- Explain the function of setting (3–6%)
- Explain the function of plot and structure (6–20%)
- Explain the function of the point of view: narrator or speaker (21–26%) ***The one skill where students really struggled on the 2021 test, and that would boost scores significantly, was analyzing a narrator’s or speaker’s perspective and how it shapes or distorts a text’s details (Skill Category 4).
- Explain the function of figurative language: word choice, imagery, and symbols (10–13%)
- Explain the function of comparison/contrast (10–13%)
- Develop textually substantiated arguments about interpretations of part or all of a text (10–13%)
- 3 FRQ Essays: Analyze one poem, one prose passage, and one novel or play.
- Autobiographical Poems (WIF/WIG) to be shared with class

SUMMER PREP (see the summer page).
There is NO summer assignment. Your task is to study and know the literary terms listed. You need to familiarize yourself with the biblical allusions. The documents, links, quizzes, and lists are on the summer page of this site. Get used to this site, you will be using it weekly. Look around and create a folder with resources on how to analyze various types of literature, how to annotate literature, and much more. See the documents on this page. Read the syllabus, go to the links, and use the resources we've given you on this site to succeed in AP LIT next year. Textbook: Carol Jago's Literature and Composition: Reading, Writing, and Thinking. The text isavailable to check out from our library; however, you may buy your own if you'd like to annotate in the book. ***Download the additional readings, poems, and selections under each unit. There will be a test on the terms and allusions in September (probably the 2nd week of class). We will go over all of the terms and allusions the first week of class.
